The Clergy Team
The Clergy Team manage the day-to-day life of the cathedral and its many activities. They are supported by two churchwardens and a subwarden who manage a wide range of duties, both within and outside formal worship.
The Chapter is the governing body of the cathedral. Canons (members of the chapter) were originally the monks who were attached to a cathedral and led worship in the the cathedral and surrounding churches. Today, most Canons live in their parishes but they have their own seat in the cathedral and, together with the Dean and Archdeacons, they form the Chapter or governing body of the cathedral. In the diocese of Monmouth, there are two Archdeacons and ten Canons. Honorary Canons are not members of the governing body.
